When it comes to sex, do you!

February 8, 2017

Did you know that over 35% of UC Berkeley students reported not having any sexual partners in the last year? And that nationally about 50% of college students in the US are not in a relationship. Generally, we tend to overestimate how much sex other folks are having, especially in college. Turn off that mental scoreboard and take it slow. You do you!

If you are going to have sex…

  • Remember that there must be consent from both (or more) parties! Enthusiastic YES!
  • Use protection! Unsafe sex can lead to unwanted pregnancies and STIs.
  • Communicate with your partner(s) about what you like or don’t like.

If you are not going to have sex…

  • You’re not alone! Most college students have had 0-1 sexual partners in the last year despite many thinking that their peers have had 2 or more.
  • A less intimate physical contact with your partner(s) is okay! Do what you feel is comfortable for you. This could range anywhere from kissing, holding hands, or cuddling!
  • Watch a scary movie, go dancing, go for a hike, cook a dinner together, or do something else that can build a special memory.

Did you know it only costs $2.50 to buy 10 condoms from the UHS Pharmacy with or without SHIP?
