Immunizations
Occupational Health provides immunization for employees if there is a health and safety mandate by OSHA, or it is determined through a risk assessment that there is a high risk of potential exposure to a vaccine-preventable disease due to work exposures (e.g., researchers, health care workers, police). Immunizations that are provided at no cost to an employee or department, and are routinely stocked by OHC, include:
- Tetanus/diphtheria booster
- Rabies vaccine for persons exposed to bats or wild carnivores
- Influenza for researchers working with H1N1
- Hepatitis B
- MMR
- Varicella (chicken pox)
Immunizations not provided by OHC: Employees are referred to their primary caregiver or the International Travel Clinic at UHS.
- Routine adult immunizations
- Childhood immunizations
- Travel-related immunizations (e.g., yellow fever, typhoid)
