Taking a Public Health course is a thought-provoking way to learn about health while also earning academic credit.
Whether you want to learn more about particular health topics or are exploring a career in public health, we have classes that will hone your critical thinking skills and underscore the power of prevention in health care.
Academic Courses
Health Promotion staff serve as instructors of several general enrollment courses for Cal students. Below are courses we have offered in recent years; see the Schedule of Classes for current and future term offerings.

Field Experience Courses
Students selected to work with the Health Worker Program, the Love Cafe at Cal program, the PartySafe@Cal program and the Sexual Health Education Program earn academic credit through Public Health 197, which combines coursework in Public Health with field experiences as peer health educators. Before enrolling in these courses, students must apply for and be selected into the appropriate program above.
