Eat Well Berkeley Restaurants, Retail, and Dining Commons

We are proud to have partnered with several campus businesses to promote healthier food and beverage options. Under the new Food and Beverage Choices Policy, food service operations, retail markets, convenience shops, and dining commons that are university-operated and third-party tenants with new or renewed leases will be required to offer nutritious and sustainable options, effective January 1, 2019. Restaurants and retail operations not included in the policy are encouraged to become Eat Well Berkeley partners. Click on the restaurant or retail location on the Eat Well Berkeley map to view a menu of their Eat Well Berkeley items.

Please complete this sample assessment to apply to the Eat Well Berkeley Restaurant Program. The process can be fairly easy and may involve adding a few healthy choices, adjusting your beverage product mix, and/or using simple strategies to promote the healthier choice. Email your completed assessment to Kim Guess, RD at kguess@berkeley.edu

You will receive feedback on your assessment and if improvements are needed, you can make changes and submit the assessment again. You may choose to have a nutrition consultation if you'd like.

Once the assessment reaches a satisfactory level, you will receive promotional materials to display in your restaurant or retail market and we will list your business on our webpage!

Customers:

As students, staff, faculty, and visitors, we can also help make our campus environment healthier.

  • Look for nutritious choices on campus. Support businesses that offer nutritious options.

Why Become an Eat Well Berkeley Partner?

If you are a university-run restaurant or retail market, or a third-party lease on campus, you are required to comply with the Food & Beverage Choices Policy. Once you are in compliance, you will automatically become an Eat Well Berkeley partner and receive all the benefits!

If you are not required to comply with the policy (independent campus restaurants without a lease, off-campus restaurants, etc.), you can voluntarily participate. We use the same assessment as the one we use for restaurants included in the policy.
