Be Well at Work - Faculty/Staff Wellness Program

Be Well at Work -- Wellness Program strives to create a healthy campus community and work environment through integrated programs and services designed to:

  • Provide faculty and staff with tools and skills for leading healthy lifestyles and preventing injury and illness.
  • Build a healthy workplace that supports healthy lifestyles by making the healthy choice the easy choice.  

The Wellness Program has a collaborative partnership among Environment Health and Safety(link is external), Human Resources(link is external), the Physical Education Program(link is external)Recreational Sports, and the Be Well at Work -- Faculty/Staff Health Programs.

Cori joined UHS after working as a Corporate Wellness Manager where she provided fitness and health management services to companies in the San Francisco Bay Area.   

Cori oversees the Be Well at Work - Wellness Program on the UC Berkeley campus where she manages programs, services, policies, and events for faculty and staff. Cori has worked in the field of worksite wellness for over 16 years and is purpose-driven to create and sustain a culture of equity, health, and well-being for the campus community. 
She received her MA in Sport Management from USF and her BS in Exercise Science from UC Davis where she competed in Track and Field. She went on to play Women’s Tackle Football for nearly ten years post-college and now enjoys officiating for USATF, golf, hiking excursions, traveling with friends, and hanging out with her puppy and kitty. Cori is originally from Wichita, Kansas, home of the Wichita State Shockers.

Wellness Program Dietitian

Kim joined UHS as the Wellness Program Dietitian in 2014 and is responsible for nutrition and wellness workshops, behavior change programs, and the Food and Beverage Choices Policy. She received her BS in Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise from Virginia Tech and completed her dietetic internship at Cal State Long Beach. In addition to her passion for cooking and sustainability, she enjoys soccer, martial arts, tennis, hiking, and camping. Kim is also a certified self-defense instructor and ALICE instructor.

Tomas Handelsman joined Be Well at Work as a Wellness Program Coordinator in May 2022. Tomas received his BAs in Public Health Policy and Criminology, Law, and Society at UC Irvine. Following his undergraduate studies, Tomas has worked in the wellness and fitness fields in physical fitness and assisted living settings.

Tomas was born in Toronto, Canada, and grew up in Thousand Oaks in Southern California. In his spare time, Tomas enjoys weightlifting, boxing, hiking, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.

Carla Jackson, MPH

Worksite Wellness Specialist

Carla Jackson joined the BWAW - Wellness team in June of 2021. Carla has over two decades of experience as a health educator for college student health promotion and wellness. She coordinates the wellness efforts (in partnership with Ergonomics, Safety, and Rec Sports) for RSSP and Facilities Services employees.

Carla is a UC Berkeley alumna where she earned her BA in sociology and competed on the track and field and cross country teams. She went on to earn her MPH from UCLA in community health sciences. Carla is a certified yoga instructor and practices wellness by riding her bike, hiking, and spending time with family and friends.

The Wellness Program has been based on a collaborative partnership model since the program started in 1990. Working with our campus partners, the Wellness Program Planning Committee functions to align common goals on overall wellness strategy, collaborates on initiatives, and advises on programs and services.
