Mindfulness Meditation Drop-In Group

Meditation has a lot of health benefits; such as reducing stress, improving relaxation, enhancing sense of well-being and alleviating health symptoms. This drop-in group is set up for students who want to try meditation and explore some techniques to do it. There is no need for commitment to come to all sessions. Students who had experiences doing meditation are also welcome to join to meditate together as well.

Managing Emotions (4 Weeks)

This 4-week group is designed to introduce students to Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) principles and skills. Participants will learn mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness skills to manage emotions more effectively. We STRONGLY recommend that participants are in concurrent individual therapy for the duration of the group.

From Self-Criticism to Kindness (6 Weeks)

This group will provide a space for students to learn skills for building self-compassion and kindness, as well as opportunities to offer support to one another. Topics will include: fostering an attitude of kindness towards self & others, building self-esteem through self-acceptance, and using mindfulness/meditation to facilitate resilience, motivation & self-confidence.

Empowering Social Connectedness

This single session peer-led psychoeducational workshop is designed to introduce strategies to improve social connection to Berkeley students struggling with loneliness, isolation, and lack of belonging.

Empowerment through Expression Workshop

Expression comes in many forms, and our ability to express is tied to our well-being. This workshop takes a holistic approach to cultivate empowerment and a sense of self-understanding through creative expression.

Facilitators will lead activities exploring our mind-body connection, relationships with others and with ourselves, and embracing the inherent wisdom of the natural world.

Students interested in this space need no previous experience or even comfort with the arts or creative expression. The power is in the process, not the product....

Beyond Pain: Empowering Wellness

This workshop is designed to help students understand the causes of chronic pain, identify signs and symptoms of chronic pain, and introduces helpful treatment strategies to manage their pain symptoms and improve overall functioning.

Starting a New Medication for Anxiety or Depression

This single session psycho-educational group covers the basic facts of common anxiety and depression medications, and factors that increase the likelihood of effectiveness. The group discusses tips and tricks for effective communication with your prescriber for ongoing medication management.

Making Meaningful Changes

This single-session psychoeducational workshop is designed to help students make changes to improve their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. The workshop is designed to help identify small, sustainable, and meaningful changes to daily habits in a non-judgmental environment. Topics include values identification, motivation strategies, and recovering from a slip.

Holistic Sleep Wellness: Behavioral Changes to Reduce Insomnia and Sleep Difficulties

This single-session psycho-educational workshop is based on the concept of holistic sleep wellness. It focuses on increasing your understanding of the mechanisms and habits that impact your sleep, to help you identify and experiment with behaviors that can improve your sleep and work for you, your body, and your life.

Graduate Men’s Support Group

This weekly support group is offered for students who self-identify as male grad students and wish to come together to discuss the challenges of being a grad student and/or any other topics for which they are seeking support. Common themes within the group include (but are not limited to) ways to deal with the hurdles & hassles of school, find ways to connect with others, discuss relationship issues, and consider ways to manage stress & live a balanced life as a Berkeley student. Students who join the group are welcome to return semester-after-semester.
