Shelly decided to re-enter the workforce and return to medical assisting after being a stay-at-home mom for 25 years. She has many grand animals that she loves visiting (eight kitties, two horses, and three dogs) and she always have a picture or two to share. Her favorite hobby is working in the yard, but battling with gophers, gophers, and many more gophers is NOT her favorite!

Kevin Belardo received his MA certificate from Contra Costa Medical Career College. He enjoys spending time with his dogs, making music, reading, dancing, and watching anime.

Lisa joined UHS in 2005 and she's worked at the Appointment Office, Primary Care, Specialty, Urgent Care, and Occupational Health. She loves dancing, good music, entertaining her family and close friends, and admits to being a very good cook. Lisa is married to the man of her dreams and they have a cat, Nipsey, that they adore and love to spoil. Lisa and her husband are both believers in Christ Jesus.

Robyn Bergunio

MA I - Primary Care

Robyn completed her Medical Assistant training program at Unitek College in Concord and her Phlebotomy training at Bay Area Medical Academy in San Francisco. She received her Medical Assistant certification through the CCBMA (California Certifying Board for Medical Assistants) in 2018 and her Certified Phlebotomy Technician Certification (CPT-1) in February of 2022. Robyn has clinical experience working in Optometry and Women's Health/Fertility.

In her spare time, Robyn enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and walking her dog.

Maria Delgadillo

MA II - Urgent Care 

Maria Delgadillo joined UHS in 2013. Overall, she’s been an MA for 15 years working the majority of the time in urgent care and also internal medicine, sports medicine, occupational health, primary care, women's health, pediatrics, and vaccine clinics. Maria graduated with an MA from Merritt College and she’s also certified as a phlebotomist, orthopedic technician, and surgical technologist.

Maria loves working in the Urgent Care department because every day is different. She enjoys helping patients feel better when they come in in so much pain and being part of a team that can impact patients with compassionate care. Maria loves her job at UHS taking care of students and being part of a place that feels like family. When not at work, Maria loves watching movies and spending time with her daughters, husband, and family. She’s a cat lover and currently has five beautiful cats who are like family.

Maria attended Webster Career College for her MA and BAMA for CPT1. Prior to joining UHS in 2016, she worked at US HealthWorks in Berkeley and Chevron Refinery Medical Services in Richmond (Occupational Clinic) for nine years. Currently, Maria works closely with eating disorder patients and she loves giving injections, doing procedures, and training new staff members. On her free, time she enjoys going out to eat with family and assisting with every single one of her boy's' soccer games.

Per Diem - Primary Care

Prior to joining UHS, Tiara Evans was a stay-at-home mom to four homeschooled children. She was also pursuing her nursing degree while running a small business on Amazon. Along with being an MA, Tiara earned her Associates in Liberal Arts. She has a clinical interest in gynecology, trans care, and mental health. Most of Tiara’s days off are spent with her children and she enjoys visiting the East Bay Regional Parks.

Amy Flores

MA I - Primary Care

Amy completed her MA program at Carrington College in 2016. She has clinical experience in urgent care, geriatrics, OBGYN, Sports Medicine, pain management, and behavioral health. Prior to coming to UHS in 2022, Amy worked at both Lifelong Medical Care and La Clinica de la Raza.

In her free time, Amy likes to spend time with her daughter and her Fur baby. She is a huge Disney & Stranger Things Fan.

Monica Gonzalez

MA II - Primary Care

Monica Gonzalez joined the Primary Care Team in late 2021. She received her MA training at Kaiser Permanente School of Allied Health in Richmond, CA, where she also received certification as an ECG technician. Monica finds purpose by serving her community and underserved populations.

While not at UHS, she enjoys exploring the outdoors, traveling to new destinations, and spending time with her family.

Prior to joining UHS, Paola Gutiérrez worked at West Berkeley Family Practice (Lifelong West Berkeley), a nonprofit organization that provides health and social services to underserved individuals. She has a clinical interest in eating disorders and enjoys spending time with her partner and two fur babies.

Liz Jimenez received her education from Contra Costa College. Prior to joining UHS, she was working as an MA at Marin Community Clinics. Liz enjoys spending time with her daughter.

James Kral

MA I - Primary Care

James earned his Medical Assisting certificate at Loma Vista Adult School in Concord. He also went to Diablo Valley College and took Anatomy and Physiology. James finds healthcare work rewarding because he can play a big part in helping patients get well.

In his free time, James enjoys visiting family, reading books, listening to music, watching sports, and camping.

Kim Lipton

MA III - Urgent Care

Kim has been an MA at UHS for over 20 years, primarily in the Urgent Care department. In addition to her MA certification, she has a BA from UCSC in Health Studies, she's a registered orthopedic tech, and she's completed the Rosen Bodywork training. Kim has a clinical interest in health education and women's health care. She lives with her extended family in Berkeley and spends her personal time creating, crafting, reading, cooking, and taking long walks in her neighborhood.

Gabriela Luevano

MA I - Primary Care

Gabriela Luevano joined UHS in late 2021. At Saint Mary’s College of California, Gabriela earned a number of degrees and certificates including a Bachelor’s in Science, pre-Med; Associates in Social and Behavioral Sciences; Associates in Liberal Arts and Sciences; STEM certification; and Medical Terminology certification. Gabriela spent five years at East Bay Nephrology in various roles: administrative assistant, medical assistant, HR credentialing assistant, and billing & coding. In addition to UHS, Gabriela spends her weekends working for Lifelong Medical where she contributes to Pandemic relief as a medical assistant providing COVID testing and vaccinations for communities in need. Her clinical interests include public health, nutrition, eating disorders, kinesiology, and preventative health care.

Gabriela loves spending time with her family, including her spouse and their new puppy Gigi. She also enjoys going on walks, working out, and experimenting with new hobbies.

Martha Macias-Rodriguez

Martha completed her Medical Assistant (EKG& Phlebotomy) program at Bay Area Medical Academy at the San Jose Campus. And completed her externship at the Urology Department at Kaiser Permanente sleepy Hallow location in Hayward CA. Martha is currently a student at Chabot College, working on her AA-T for Psychology, Sociology, and Spanish.

In her free time, Martha likes to paint, go for hikes and ride her bike down the coast. She loves to go to the beach and try new restaurants. She likes going to music festivals and concerts. Martha likes spending time with her family and friends, and she loves plants!

Viridiana received her AA from Heald College. She's been working as a medical assistant for eight years. Viridiana is happily married and enjoys hiking, ziplining, horseback riding, and traveling. She loves spending as much time with her family as she can.

Maria Morales received her AA in Medical Assisting from Heald College and is certified by the AAMA as a certified medical assistant. She's also certified by the NHA as a certified phlebotomy technician. Prior to joining UHS, Maria was working as an MA within the Sutter East Bay Medical Foundatio. She is married with two kids and enjoys long family walks with her dog, Taco, exploring the outdoors, and hosting family events at her home.

Maria Perez joined the UHS Custodial team in 2018 and transitioned to the role of Hospital Assistant. Maria now supports doctors and patients in all clinics by promoting a clean, safe, and healthy environment. She prepares and stocks clinic supplies, sanitizes exam rooms, and sterilizes medical instruments.

Paola Perez-Stephenson

Paola attended Saint Mary's College of California for her degree in Biology with a minor in chemistry then attended Contra Costa Medical Career College and became a Medical Assistant. Being first generation Guatemalan American Paola is familiar with the struggles of underserved populations which made her interested in pursuing healthcare.

Paola enjoys sports, mostly soccer and football. Her favorite teams are the Raiders and real Madrid. She loves going to the gym and watching shows like Grey's anatomy and anime (her favorite one is hunter x hunter). She loves animals, she has an American bully named Romeo and a cat that she rescued from the street that is named Sakura.

MA II - Allergy/Travel

Nova Rodriguez completed her MA training at the Mt. Diablo Adult Education school in Concord. She's currently in school completing her prerequisites for nursing school. Prior to joining UHS, Nova was working as an MA for Stanford Healthcare. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, watching moves, cuddling with her cat, trying new foods, and going to concerts.

Klayna Rocha is a medical assistant in our Primary Care Clinic. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking for her friends and family.

Angela Ross received her Medical Assistant certificate from Merritt College. Prior to joining UHS, she was working at an urgent care clinic. Angela loves the 49'ers, dogs, coffee, and her three daughters and grandson.

Michael Snider

MA III - Urgent Care

Michael has been a full-time EMT/medical assistant at City College of San Francisco for over 10 years. He earned his Medical Assistant Certification, EMT Certification, Registered Orthopedic Certification, and his Allied Health Instructor Certification. Michael has a clinical interest in vaccines and emergency care. He enjoy volunteering and spending time with his three cats — Jessie, Nobe and Abbey.

Manuella joined UHS in 2005. She graduated with her AA degree and Medical Assistant certification from Heald College. She love singing, dancing, and bible reading.

Hung joined UHS in May 2022. She took a Clinical Medical Assisting Program at Merritt College, Oakland.

Hung has two kids, her daughter named Lia and son named Charlie. Hung likes succulents , pets and she likes biking.

Vicki Tran

Vicki received her Clinical Medical Assistant Certification from the NHA. She had previously worked as a medical assistant at a Primary Care- Internal Medicine Private Practice. Vicki has a clinical interest in primary care, psychiatry, and working with underserved populations.

In her free time, she enjoys reading books, taking short walks, and spending time with her cat Nemo. She enjoys engaging in meaningful conversations and connecting with people. On the weekends, she volunteers at Highland Hospital.

Ashley Wong

Per Diem - Primary Care

Ashley Wong received her BS in Psychobiology at UC Davis and completed her CMA training at CalRegional in Fairfield, CA. She is also currently taking classes at Chabot College. Before joining UHS in late 2021, Ashley worked as an on-call Health Coach at Asian Health Services in Oakland’s Chinatown. Her clinical interests include primary care, geriatric care, and neurodegenerative diseases.

While away from the Tang Center, Ashley likes dining out with friends, watching movies, and playing board games. She also volunteers at the Valley Humane Society in Pleasanton, where she enjoys taking care of cats and dogs.
