The WorkStrong program is a UC system-wide initiative that provides specialized health and wellness programs for those who have been injured on the job. UC WorkStrong is a comprehensive program designed to reduce the risk of further injury and promote overall health and wellness. The program is free and is designed to fit each individual’s needs.

- Flexible hours geared towards what works best for you
- Focused on functional strength for your workplace
- 6 months access to the University of California Recreational Sports Facilities
Fitness and Post-Rehab Training
WorkStrong clients will receive training from a certified trainer, who will design an in-depth program that is personalized to the needs of the client.
Nutrition and Weight Management
Clients receive one-on-one sessions with a registered dietitian for nutrition counseling. Clients will learn about nutrition and lifestyle, set realistic behavior change goals, and find ways to eat healthier that fit into their schedule and lifestyle.
Life Balance and Stress Reduction
Our team of instructors, trainers and fitness experts will help you form those stress reduction strategies geared towards making you feel better day by day.

Working with my trainer Nick was great. He was extremely supportive and was extra sensitive to my injuries and limitations. The nutritionist, Karen, was also great to work with, and I learned a lot. I successfully addressed losing weight, getting stronger, started an actual exercise routine, and began eating healthier all within the WorkStrong program. I also felt my confidence and self-esteem boosted by this program.
I would recommend this program highly to others, and very strongly suggest that people use a nutrition and food calorie guide. I used the tool to track my steps, food consumption, how much I exercised, my weight, and how much water I drank. This was huge and I have been able to make permanent changes to my lifestyle choices thanks to WorkStrong!

The component that I got the most out of during my WorkStrong program was the personal training. I felt my weight and core strength improve greatly. Also awareness of my posture and slowing down at work. I learned healthy eating habits including bringing my lunch to work more often and cooking at home, the nutritionist was great at helping come up with strategies to make this easier.
In this program, for the first time in my 20 years at Cal, I felt as though I mattered. Each person I engaged with cared about my health and improvement. All were excellent and Jaime, the member of the team I spent the most time with, clearly knows how to teach movement and is an excellent and compassionate teacher.
