The Student Health Advisory Committee is an advisory board to University Health Services and campus administration that represents the entire student population at UC Berkeley.
The Student Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) is made up of a diverse network of student representatives that help to amplify student voices in decisions related to our health and healthcare.
SHAC members work alongside UHS staff and administrators to help further UHS’s commitment to providing quality, culturally competent healthcare to students and reducing the disparities to accessing care. The goal of SHAC is to work in alignment with UHS’s Strategic Plan/Goals and committee members work on key initiatives from each of the Strategic Plan areas (listed below), so that the student voice and input are incorporated into the short-term and long-term planning and implementation of these goals:

Membership
SHAC strives to reflect the diversity of the student body and includes representatives from many campus organizations and communities including; the ASUC, Bridges Multicultural Resource Center, Committee on Student Fees, Greek Community, Graduate Assembly, Health Worker Peer Education Program, immigrant Students, international students, multiple recruitment and retention centers, National Pan-Hellenic Council, queer and transgender students, Residence Hall Assembly, Student Parent Association, Students with Disabilities (DSP), Transfer/Re-entry Student Association, Underground Scholars, University Students Cooperative Association and at-large undergraduate and graduate students.
Joining SHAC
The official SHAC membership recruiting period begins at the start of each fall semester. Open positions for specific communities can be filled throughout the academic year.
