Travel and Immunizations Department

The Travel & Immunizations team at UHS is dedicated to helping UC Berkeley students stay healthy both on campus and abroad. Our team includes clinicians, nurses, medical assistants, and administrative staff who work together to provide expert travel health consultations, required and recommended vaccinations, and support for meeting UC immunization and TB requirements. Whether you’re preparing for international travel or submitting campus health documentation, our knowledgeable and compassionate team is here to guide you every step of the way.

Infectious Diseases Providers

Rosemarie Bersabe

Rosemarie Bersabe, FNP

Pronouns: She/her

Rosemarie Bersabe joined UHS in 2018 as a Nurse Practitioner in Primary Care. She received her BA in American Studies from UC Berkeley and her MSN-FNP from Samuel Merritt University. Before joining UHS, Rosemarie worked at the Indian Health Center in San Jose and the Tri-City Health Center in Fremont. She has a special clinical interest in health promotion and education, disease prevention, community health, and underserved populations.

Rosemarie is board-certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. 

Anna Harte

Anna Harte, MD

Medical Director

Pronouns: She/her

Dr. Anna Harte (née Bloxham) joined UHS in 2001. Dr. Harte was appointed Medical Director in January 2017 after serving as Associate Medical Director from 2011-2016. She received her BA in Music from UC Santa Cruz (1992), her MD from Yale University (1998), and completed her residency in Primary Care Internal Medicine at UC San Francisco (2001).

Dr. Harte has a special interest in tuberculosis, travel/tropical medicine, primary care, and universal access to quality, evidence-based, and socially responsible healthcare.

Dr. Harte loves travelling and experiencing other cultures and perspectives, but finds her happiest place in the wilderness, hiking and camping, and just being present in nature.

Dr. Harte is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Katie Leach NP

Katie Leach, FNP, MSN

Pronouns: she/her

Katie Leach (she/her) joined UHS in 2019 as a Nurse Practitioner in Primary Care. She received her BA in Latin American Studies from UC San Diego in 2011 and her MSN from Yale University in 2014. She started her career working in community health centers and free clinics working predominantly with marginalized communities of color. In student health, she has worked at Yale University, UC Berkeley, and the University of Michigan.

She has a special clinical interest in helping people have safe and consensual sex with tools like contraception, STI testing, and STI prevention including HIV PrEP, HIV PEP, and DoxyPEP. She also provides gender-affirming care, including gender-affirming hormones as well as gender-inclusive primary care services. She is a member of the Trans Care Team, co-chair of the Abuse and Assault Response Team, and the primary care provider for folx living with HIV and for patients with Latent Tuberculosis infections.  

Katie is board-certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She is also a certified HIV Specialist from the American Academy of HIV Medicine.

Siena Del Ponte, RN, MSN, BSN

Pronouns: She/her

Siena joined UHS in 2024 as a Registered Nurse in the Travel/Immunizations Clinic. She completed her BA in Cultural Anthropology at Oregon State University before earning her BSN and MSN at San Francisco State University. Prior to specializing in Travel/Immunizations, Siena worked in hospice as an RN Case Manager. Her special interests include promoting health equity, disease prevention, and palliative care.

Siena also enjoys travel, pottery, and trying new restaurants.

Mary Anne Hammond RN

Mary Anne Hammond, RN, BSN, AE-C

Pronouns: She/Her/Hers

Mary Anne Hammond joined UHS as a Registered Nurse in the Travel/Immunization clinic. She received her BSN from San Jose State University and has a special clinical interest in health promotion and asthma education (she’s a certified asthma educator).

Emily Moore, RNP, NP

Nurse Manager

Emily joined UHS in 2024 as a Nurse Manager, Travel & Immunizations. Emily completed undergraduate degrees in biology from UCSD and in nursing from University of Memphis. Emily worked as a nurse at UCSF in Hematology-Oncology/ Bone Marrow Transplant, and also completed her MSN at UCSF in Adult Primary Care NP with a specialty in Occupational and Environmental Health nursing. Emily worked as an Occupational Health NP, Principal Research Investigator, and Principal Program Manager at Genentech. Emily also worked as an Occupational Health Program Manager at Tesla. Emily has a passion for preventative care and lifestyle medicine and is board certified as an Occupational Health Specialist and as a Lifestyle Medicine Diplomat.

Allyson Ochsner, RN, MSN

Allyson joined UHS  in 2018 as a Clinical Nurse in the Travel/Immunization clinic. She received her BA from Washington University and her BSN and MSN from the University of Washington. Allyson has a special clinical interest in infectious disease, reproductive health, and public health and is a member of Medical Teams International’s Humanitarian Response Team.

Chrissy Suhua Huang, RN

Chrissy Suhua Huang joined UHS in 2017 as a Registered Nurse in the Travel/Immunization Clinic. She received her RN from City College of San Francisco (2009) and her BSN from San Francisco State University (2013).

Sara Wright

Sara Wright, RN, WHNP-BC, ANP-C

Sara Wright joined UHS in 2020 in the role of COVID-19 Team Lead for the Travel/Immunization clinic. She was previously a nurse practitioner at Planned Parenthood in Oakland. Sara received her BA in Anthropology from Yale, her MA in Anthropology from Harvard, and her BSN and MSN from MGH Institute of Health Professionals. She is interested in reproductive health, reproductive justice, infectious disease, and addressing health inequities. Sara loves to travel to new places (near and far), spend time outside, and hang out with her husband and kiddo.

Sara is board-certified as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) from NCC and an Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP) from AANP.

Nova Rodriguez completed her MA training at the Mt. Diablo Adult Education School in Concord. She's currently in school completing her prerequisites for nursing school. Before joining UHS, Nova was working as an MA for Stanford Healthcare. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, watching movies, cuddling with her cat, trying new foods, and going to concerts.
