Outreach and Workshop Requests

CAPS frequently does outreach to the campus for student groups, academic departments, and administrative units.

The goal of this outreach is to demystify counseling, educate the campus on mental health issues, and to help others know our counselors. Although staffing for outreach is limited, we do our best to accommodate requests.

Programs offered

We are usually able to tailor these programs for your specific group and time constraints: 
  • Demystifying CAPS: Learn more about what CAPS offers and how to use services
  • Gatekeeper Training: Training for faculty, staff and GSIs on how to help distressed students
  • QPR- Question, Persuade, Refer: More in-depth training on how to prevent suicide
  • Stress-management and wellness in a diverse world

How to make a request

To request an outreach program please e-mail Sue Bell, CAPS manager of outreach and consultation. Please note that staffing is limited, especially during times of the semester when CAPS is highly utilized.

Please provide the following information:

  • Your name, phone number, email
  • Your title/role on campus
  • Topic of interest
  • Possible dates/times
  • Expected number of participants
  • Location
We request two weeks advance notice for non-urgent requests and encourage campus partners to request programs by March 14th. After March 14th, CAPS will only be able to respond to crisis-related outreach requests.
