Should I waive SHIP?

Welcome! Four Important Things to Know About Insurance at Berkeley

  1. All eligible UC Berkeley students are required to have medical insurance that meets the University's requirements.
  2. All students will be automatically enrolled in SHIP -- see the SHIP benefits
  3. If you have comparable insurance and don't want to keep SHIP as dual coverage, you may submit a waiver application.
  4. All students can use University Health Services (UHS), whether they have SHIP or not but UHS only accepts SHIP insurance.
