Effective August 1, 2026, the following groups who are enrolled in a minimum of 0.5 units during Summer 2026 and will not be enrolled for Fall 2026 have the option to purchase SHIP for the month of August:2

1 This applies to the incoming class for the first summer in which they start and returning summer students only. After summer, programs roll into regular Fall and Spring SHIP coverage periods and costs.
2The enrollment period is from July 1, 2026, to August 1, 2026. To request enrollment, students must contact the Enrollment & Waiver Coordinator, Sheila Edwards, at sheilaedwards@berkeley.edu during the enrollment period. For GSI/GSR, please attach verification of employment from your department or UC Path in your email.

Eligibility: Voluntary SHIP is available for the dependents of students enrolled in SHIP. Please visit our Insurance for Dependents webpage to find out who is eligible.
Online enrollment form: During your program's enrollment period, the link to the online enrollment application will be made available. (Note: Students must be enrolled in a minimum of 0.5 units for the summer term to be eligible for SHIP and to add their dependents onto SHIP. If the student is not enrolled in classes and SHIP, the request for dependent enrollment will be denied.)
