Alcohol and Other Drugs Harm Reduction Group

This weekly group acknowledges that different goals work for different people. With the support of the group, you can work on finding the right balance for yourself, to get what you want from your substance use choices, without the things you don’t want.

Please note this group has two different weekly sessions you can sign up for.

Asian Identified Womxn Support Group

This group is for students who identify as womxn of any Asian or Asian-American background. We'll co-create a supportive space to share experiences related to intersectional identities, navigating Asian & American values, racism-related trauma, school stress, family & relationship issues, and other topics of interest. This group requires a brief pre-group meeting with the group facilitator(s) before joining. All Asian and Asian American students "who experience life through the lens of womxn in body, spirit, identity--past, present, future, and fluid are welcome."...

Encontrando Communidad: Latine/Hispanic Support and Process Group

This therapy group is for both undergraduate and graduate students who identify as Latine/Hispanic and are looking for a community to find support. The content of the group is based on topics of interest the members wish to bring. Common themes may include navigating family expectations, cultural roles, challenges pursuing higher education and balancing responsibilities, finding your own identity, navigating multiple cultures, disconnect with family.

Gender Support Group

This group is for transgender, nonbinary, gender expansive, agender, gender diverse, genderqueer, and gender nonconforming students to come together in a safe, collaborative, nonjudgmental space. Together we will discuss a variety of topics related to being on the gender spectrum including gender identity, intersectional identities, different aspects of transition, coming out and being out at Berkeley, navigating family of origin considerations, community resources, academic stress, relationships, sexuality, and resilience and joy.

Survivor Support Group

This group is specific to survivors who have experienced sexual assault more than 3 months ago. Survivors who experienced sexual violence in the context of an intimate partner violence relationship are an appropriate referral as long as the relationship is no longer active. During this group, participants will learn mindfulness and grounding skills while also learning to understand the impact of trauma in their present lives.

This group is open to survivors of all genders. This group requires a pre-group meeting with the group facilitator before joining.

LGBTQIA+ Support Group

This in-person group is for students who identify as LGBTQIA+, as well as those who are questioning and exploring. Join us in co-creating a supportive and affirming space to explore themes that promote wellness and connection. Topics will include but are not limited to: coming out, identity development, family of origin, chosen family, relationships, dating, healthcare, intersectional and multicultural identities, living out on campus, building communities of support, non-monogamy, and stress management.

Graduate Men’s Support Group

This weekly support group is offered for students who self-identify as male grad students and wish to come together to discuss the challenges of being a grad student and/or any other topics for which they are seeking support. Common themes within the group include (but are not limited to) ways to deal with the hurdles & hassles of school, find ways to connect with others, discuss relationship issues, and consider ways to manage stress & live a balanced life as a Berkeley student. Behavioral Health Support Space

The Behavioral Health Support Space is designed for students to give and receive support from peers who are experiencing a medical concern impacting their mental health or quality of life. This may include but is not limited to chronic health conditions, processing a recent diagnosis, chronic pain, or post-concussion support. This space is appropriate for students needing emotional support at any point in their experience living with a medical condition– from a recent diagnosis to those living with a condition long-term. Navigating Bipolar Group

This is an 8-module, weekly group for individuals with bipolar disorder. Within an atmosphere of mutual support, there is a focus on education about the condition, including ways to maintain stability. Members must have a primary psychiatrist before coming to the group.

Students can talk with a counselor to sign up or self-register, and there will be a brief screening conversation with one of the facilitators after signing up.
