Showing Parents Some Appreciation

May 5, 2017

My parents have been super supportive over the last 5 years. I'm graduating this May but I am broke and exhausted. What are some ways that I can still show them appreciation?

Congrats on graduating! This is probably an exciting, but also daunting experience as you have finally completed 4 years at Cal and are ready to take on the real world. Finances can be a pain and leaving college can be stressful, too. I'm glad to hear you have supportive parents. Do you know what makes your parents happy? I would suggest spending more time with them and acknowledging their efforts in helping you with your college journey. I truly believe that your parents want the best for you and they would do anything they can to ensure that you are enjoying your college experiences and that you are well off. You can cook a nice dinner for your parents and perhaps even make them something to show your appreciation for everything they have done. You don't necessarily need money/material items to show that your appreciation. Simple words and actions can do wonders! Maybe have a family night/outing and express how much you appreciate their help. Your parents will love you for you, so focus on using what you have and not worrying about what you don't have to show that you care.
