Charitable efforts - how to help others
For those who would like to help support the victims of the Oakland fire, several charity drives have been organized. (Please note that these opportunities are not officially endorsed by UHS or UC Berkeley, but have been collectively distributed in the Bay Area community for those who would like to take action.)
- Relief fund for victims of the fire: General relief fund for the victims, administered by Gray Area Foundation for the Arts (a 501c3).
- Oakland Fire Relief: Assistance and relief to the victims and families. The Oakland A's, Oakland Raiders, Golden State Warriors, and other organizations will each match fan donations.
- Support drive for residents who lost their homes: Administered by Reina Lam for residents of Satya Yuga, directly funding supplies and materials needed to support their livelihood.
- American Red Cross Bay Area: Updates on response efforts, how to volunteer, and donation opportunities.
- See the Berkeleyside article for other events and fundraisers in support of the fire victims (12/9/16).
