The Financial Fair for Personal Finance is an opportunity for UC Berkeley faculty, staff, and retirees to attend workshops, learn about campus resources, and visit with campus financial vendors.

Getting Started in the UC Retirement Savings Program

Details on how UC’s voluntary retirement benefits program helps supplement other sources of retirement income. Learn about the features of different plan options, importance of pre-tax saving and compounding of investment returns, and investment options. Also explains easy steps to enroll and get started saving for the future you.
Who should attend: Employees who are not contributing to the voluntary Retirement Savings Program or may not be taking full advantage of the program by not deferring the maximum amount or investing appropriately.

UC Retirement Plan (UCRP) – The Pension Plan

The session addresses the many areas one needs to consider for a successful and satisfying retirement and the benefits available through the UC Retirement Plan (UCRP). Content includes information about monthly retirement income and how it is calculated, cost of living adjustments, and lump sum cash out. The Retirement Savings Program and retiree health and welfare benefits will be discussed. Other UCRP benefits such as disability income, survivor income, basic death benefit and service credit buybacks will also be covered. This workshop is designed to help you increase your knowledge of utilizing available retirement resources.
Who should attend: Active career employees.

Strategies for Drawing Income in Retirement

How to best plan for the retirement you envision by building a retirement income plan, including strategies for drawing income in retirement from different sources.
Who should attend: Pre-retirees who are interested in developing a plan to turn their savings into income that lasts through retirement.
