How do I activate my MyChart account?

Monday, July 14, 2025 the new system becomes active and patients can sign-up to activate their MyChart accounts.  A mobile app version will also be available to download and use.

What is happening to eTang?

  • University Health Services is launching a new electronic health records system that will replace eTang, called MyUCBerkeleyHealth or MyChart.
  • Patients will still be able to view past records and information in eTang, but all appointment making, messaging and other functionality will be available in MyChart.
    • Limited functionality will remain in eTang for the Fall 2025 semester for SHIP Waiver Appeals and Reversals and our Mandatory TB & Immunization Requirements Program.
  • If you have upcoming appointments already booked in eTang after July 14, they will be moved to our new MyChart system.

There are a few ways to activate your MyChart account:

  1. If you are on SHIP insurance, you will get an activation code the first week of August and can activate it easily with this code.
  2. If you are coming into UHS for an appointment, to use the lab or Pharmacy, the staff here can help you activate it by pushing out a link to your phone or email either when you are checking in or after your appointment.
  3. You can use the "Self Sign Up" button on the MyUCBerkeleyHealth home page, if you don't have a activation code, be sure to look for the button " "No activation code?" and click "Sign up online" and complete the steps.  Important Tips:
    1. You MUST use your berkeley.edu email address (got a personal email address)
    2. You need to use your Legal name, you will be able to change your preferred name once your MyChart account is active.
    3. If you are under 18, click the "12-17 years old? sign up here!" link.

What to expect when the new system launches?

  • As we move over to our new MyUCBerkeleyHealth system, we ask for your patience as we get up and running.
  • Appointments, registration, transactions may take a bit longer, and you may be asked to complete new forms, etc.
  • We are here to help you get your MyChart account going so you can manage your care online.
