Cal For the Cure 2007
Thank you to all who participated in the fifth annual Cal
for the Cure Campus Walk for Breast Cancer, held on Wednesday,
October 10, 2007, from 12:10-1:00 pm at the Campanile (south side).
The event was a success, with over 50 campus members - students,
faculty, and staff - joining the Health*Matters
Walking Group for a 20-minute walk throughout campus to commemorate
October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. By walking, you helped
raise campus awareness about breast cancer, and showed your support
for campus members who have been touched by this disease.
The walk was followed by a short reception at the Campanile,
as returning participants enjoyed refreshments generously donated
by Cal Catering,
and were also treated to a beautiful performance by the California
Golden Overtones, U.C. Berkeley's only all-female a capella.
Health*Matters would also like to acknowledge and thank the
following organizations and campus departments for their generous
donations and commitment in helping make this important event
possible:
The Campus Walk for Breast Cancer, sponsored by Health*Matters,
the wellness program for faculty and staff, provides an opportunity
to come together as a community to honor colleagues, friends,
loved ones, and others who have been touched by breast cancer.
The event also raises awareness of the importance of early detection,
as well as healthy eating and exercise habits, to reduce the risk
of getting breast cancer.
Please continue to check this webpage for upcoming information
for next year's event, including sponsor announcements.
