| Who May Enroll |
Students automatically are enrolled in the University's Student
Health Insurance Plan (SHIP), and charged a health insurance fee
on their registration bill. (See Why
SHIP)
Groups eligible for SHIP include:
- All registered undergraduate and graduate students of the
Berkeley campus at the University of California, including registered
international students
- All registered undergraduate and graduate students of Mills
College, including registered international students
- All non-registered "Filing Fee Status" students of the Berkeley
campus who are completing work under the auspices of the University
of California, but are not attending classes, as well as some
withdrawn graduate students
- All non-registered UC Berkeley Concurrent Enrollment students
who are completing degree requirements by taking courses through
UC Berkeley Extension
Filing fee, withdrawn and concurrent enrollment students are
not automatically enrolled; see below.

| How to Enroll |
Registered students automatically are enrolled in
SHIP. The fee for SHIP is billed as part of students' registration
fees.
Students on Filing Fee or Withdrawal status
are not automatically enrolled in SHIP, and must apply for the
plan. For more information and to apply, see SHIP

Note: Students can waive enrollment
with proof of comparable insurance and receive a refund of the
SHIP fee. Waivers must be filed prior to each fall semester.
