NEW UC SHIP

Who May Enroll Non-registered UC Berkeley students on filing fee, withdrawal or concurrent enrollment status are not automatically enrolled in or eligible to continue UC SHIP coverage. However, students may enroll in UC SHIP on a voluntary basis. A student must fall into one of the following categories:
Filing Fee Enrollment: In lieu of registration, UC Berkeley graduate students who will file their master's theses or PhD dissertations within the semester may apply to their academic departments for filing fee status. This status is granted only once. Students in filing fee status may enroll in UC SHIP.
Withdrawal Status: As with filing fee status, students must apply to their academic departments for official withdrawal status. UC Berkeley graduate students performing field research or working on their dissertations, or on other approved leave, may enroll in UC SHIP. To complete the enrollment process, students must submit proof of withdrawal to the Student Health Insurance Office.
Concurrent Enrollment: Undergraduate students in their final semester of study who are completing degree requirements through UC Berkeley Extension's Concurrent Enrollment program may enroll in UC SHIP. To copmlete the enrollment process, students must submit a letter of approval from your department and proof of payment for class(es) at UC Berkeley Extension to the Student Health Insurance Office.
