the UHS Team
University Health Services employs over 300 people, including
physicians, psychiatrists, consulting medical specialists, nurse practitioners,
registered nurses, physical therapists, pharmacists, health educators, psychologists,
social workers, and a variety of other health professionals and support staff.
In addition to paid staff, approximately 400 Cal students and over 50 community
volunteers participate in UHS peer, intern, and volunteer programs. Contents:

Volunteer opportunities at University Health Services fall under
two categories:
- Student Volunteer Program: Student
Volunteer Applications for Summer (non-pharmacy) available Monday
April 27. (Due Friday May 15th). The Student
Volunteer Program provides an opportunity for registered Cal
students to become familiar with various health care careers.
The program offers an insider's view through placements in clinics,
lab, radiology, pharmacy, administration and other UHS departments.
Students are placed in primarily clerical positions according
to their interests and availability. Students are required to
work a minimum of two hours per week in their placements. Student
volunteer programs are organized into three sessions annually:
fall and spring semesters, and summer.

- Applications for fall positions are accepted in August;
applications for spring positions are accepted in January.

- Recruitment for Pharmacy volunteers is now done

- If you are interested in helping out with occasional events,
join the Health Promotion street team! Subscribe
to our mailing list online, and you will receive e-mails
about upcoming events that need volunteers.
- Community Volunteers: Community volunteers contribute
throughout the Tang Center, including working at the Information
Desk, helping with special events, such as the flu shot clinics;
and assisting in various departments. For more information,
