We have a new position for a strategic, internal communicator (Health Communications Specialist -- Communications Specialist 3) to assist the UHS communications manager in leading a robust staff communications program for 300+ employees. Core duties

  • Works with management and internal clients to create, develop, and implement long and short term strategic communications plans and/or projects.
  • Manages comprehensive communications programs, including written, visual, and electronic communications.
  • Internal communications: Manage staff intranet, staff blog and internal policy manuals website. Supports change management communications.
  • Editor for biweekly staff e-newsletter. Includes content development, written, visual and electronic communications
  • Manage staff features including photography, written biography and graphic design for newsletter, Meet the Staff webpages, Medical Home resources, clinical staff posters and monthly Staff Highlight feature.
  • Primary videographer and staff photographer. Manages complete production process, including: coordination, shooting and interviewing subjects, and editing and distributing videos. File management for photos/video. Curates photo albums for social sharing. Manages YouTube account. Supervises multimedia work-student student.
  • Identifies specific communications needs and develops the content and process for organizational improvements. Serves as project manager or communications lead on a variety of projects including web redesigns and other projects.
  • Event management. Manage planning, promotion, design, implementation and day of coordination of all internal staff events. Strategic planning and coordination on large scale client facing events.
  • Manages internal policy manuals website. Includes leading staff training for site editors and developing and updating training guides.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of all aspects of communications, including strategic planning for various media venues, technical aspects and requirements of various venues, and most appropriate and effective applications.
  • Knowledge and understanding of technical applications to effectively direct technical staff, or personally perform technical work, including design concepts, various media, and applications.
  • Knowledge of the organization, its achievements, mission, vision, goals, policies, practices, infrastructure, and a strong knowledge of current affairs, and issues in higher education.
  • Solid skills to create, develop, and implement comprehensive long and short term strategic communications plans.
  • Knowledge and skills to advise and consult with management to ensure delivery of the desired message to target and/or broad general audiences.
  • Solid written, verbal, interpersonal communications, active listening and political acumen skills.
  • Knowledge of campus protocols and channels for communication internally and externally.
  • 1+years health care and/or communications experience.
  • 1+years higher education experience. Working knowledge of the campus, its achievements, mission, vision, goals, objectives, programs and infrastructure.
  • 1+years special event management experience, including planning and execution of events.
  • Expert level expertise in following software: Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, FinalCutPro/PremierePro video editing, Photoshop, InDesign) Email marketing platforms (i.e. Constant Contact), Microsoft Office Suite, Drupal Content Management System.
