Outreach and Workshop Requests

Student Mental Health frequently does outreach to the campus for student groups, academic departments, and administrative units. The goal of this outreach is to demystify counseling, educate the campus on mental health issues, and help others know our counselors. Although staffing for outreach is limited, we do our best to accommodate requests.

Programs offered

We are usually able to tailor these programs for your specific group and time constraints: 

  • Demystifying CAPS: Learn more about what CAPS offers and how to use services
  • Gatekeeper Training: Training for faculty, staff, and GSIs on how to help distressed students
  • Suicide Awareness and Intervention Training: More in-depth training on how to prevent suicide Stress-management and wellness in a diverse world
  • De-escalation Techniques and Supporting a Student in Crisis  

How to make a request

To request an outreach program please e-mail Junichi Shimaoka (junichi.shimaoka@berkeley.edu), CAPS coordinator of outreach and consultation. Please note that staffing is limited, especially during times of the semester when CAPS is highly utilized. Please give at least a 3-week notice for new requests.
