Frequently Asked Questions about Laboratory Testing
1. What am I doing here?
Your clinician has ordered some laboratory tests to help determine your health status. You may be asked to give a blood, urine or stool specimen. Please answer all questions to the best of your ability so that we may provide accurate information to your clinician.
2. How do I get my results, and when?
Laboratory personnel cannot give lab results, but your clinician and the clinic nurse can. You will be called if any results need follow-up. When your specimen(s) are being collected, you may ask when the results will be ready. Clinic phone numbers are on the back of your gold card.
3. Why do I have to wait if I am just dropping off a specimen?
We must process your paperwork, print your bill, and check to make sure the specimen is labeled correctly. If there are questions or problems, it is better that you, the patient, be available to provide the correct information.
4. How can I comment on the laboratory processes?
There are complaint/suggestion forms located at the Information Desk and on the wall outside our waiting room. We welcome your comments and strive continually to meet all patients' needs.
