SHIP Pharmacy Benefits - Tracking How Much You've Used
All SHIP members have a $2,000 maximum pharmacy benefit per plan year.
That means that SHIP will pay up to $2,000 for prescriptions in a given
plan year (August 15 - August 14). Once the benefit maximum is reached,
you are responsible for 100% of additional pharmacy charges. Co-payment
amounts do not count toward the $2,000 maximum. Prescriptions purchased
at the UHS Pharmacy AND outside of UHS at retail pharmacies (e.g. Walgreens,
Longs) count toward the benefit maximum.
You can check online how much pharmacy benefit you have used. Here's
how:
- Go to the Blue
Cross of California website. (The preceding link will open in
a new window so you can refer back to these instructions.)
- You will need to register and log in:
- Click the Register button on the left.
- Complete the registration process. (Note that you can use your
Social Security Number in place of your Member ID when registering.)
- Once you are logged in, you will be directed to a menu screen with
access to a variety of plan information. Click the View Contract Information
link.
- On the following screen, click Benefits/Deductibles Used.
- A list of your benefits and deductibles used for the plan year beginning
August 15 of the year shown will appear. To view a different year,
select it from the dropdown menu and click Go.
- On the list that appears, the item Major Med Prescription Drug Max
shows the amount of drug benefit you have used towards the $2,000
maximum. (If you do not see this item, confirm that you are viewing
the correct plan year, which goes from August 15 of the year shown
through August 14 of the following year.)
