Wellness at Work (pdf)
This is a pdf version of this webpage for distributing to department
managers and supervisors.
Assess your Office:
- Do you understand your role in preventing injury and illness and
creating a safe and healthy work environment?
- Do staff take work breaks? Do they feel comfortable going for a
walk or stretching at break time?
- Are you familiar with the wellness programs offered on campus? Do
you orient staff and faculty on the campus resources they can utilize
to achieve and maintain healthy lifestyles?
- Do you make sure healthy food and beverage options are available
at meetings and catered events for those that want healthier choices?
Suggestions for Action:
Enhance your supervisory skills...
- Attend Promoting a Safe and Healthy Work Environment for Managers
and Supervisors to learn health and safety responsibilities. Enroll
through the Supervisor Development Lab or schedule for your department.
- Utilize the Healthy Office Program for
Supervisors for addressing health and safety issues in office
environments. Includes tips for supervisors, reproducible fact sheets,
and campus resources.
Create a work environment that supports healthier lifestyles...
- Encourage and support staff to use morning or afternoon breaks for
walking 15-30 minutes a day, to get up from their workstation to stretch
or move around, to take the stairs throughout the day.
- Support flex time for physical activity or participating in a health
management program.
- Schedule a 15-minute Step
Up to Fitness pedometer orientation at a staff meeting. (510) 643-4646

and Events.
Encourage and support staff to achieve and maintain healthier lifestyles...
