Dear Cal Student,As part
of the University's alcohol prevention program, all incoming students
are required to complete a confidential, online alcohol education course,
entitled AlcoholEdu for College. The course uses science-based
research to educate students about alcohol and its effects. Whether
you drink or not, the course will help you make informed decisions about
alcohol and better deal with drinking behavior that may occur around
you. To take the course, you will need a computer with Internet access
and audio capability. If you do not have home access to a computer,
you can use any publicly-available computer with Internet.
Part 2 After you arrive on campus, you will receive an email with instructions completing Part 2 of the course. This part will take about 10 minutes to complete. It includes:

| Note
to Transfer, Re-Entry and Older Students Even though you may be of legal drinking age and/or may have already considered your drinking behaviors, we ask you to complete the program, because: 1) Your academic and social life at Cal may be affected by students whose drinking attitudes are less well-established than yours; 2) You may be asked by underage students to help them purchase alcohol. Are you aware of the legal and campus consequences of drinking with-or furnishing alcohol to-underage individuals? 3) You may learn something from the program, or re-think some of your attitudes and behaviors about alcohol. 4) As a new member of the campus community, you are responsible-as we all are-for helping to maintain the health and safety of our community. We believe that completing this course will support you to do so. |
